How do I listen to the BBC Radio 1 Chart Show? I'm based in the US so need to listen to it after the fact. Whenever I try the player times out after about 2 minutes. I can only seem to listen to live radio if I go through realplayer rather than the BBC website. I know I have been able to listen to the entire show in the past. Is it something to do with the settings on my computer? Sergio replied: "It may be the settings on your computer. Your default program might be Real. If you go to their website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles.shtml), you should be able to listen to the entire show online. It opens a little pop up (disable pop ups if you have a blocker... or press and hold control). I am also based in the US and I just tried it on Firefox (my browser of choice) and it plays the show on the browser (I think they do use Real, though, but it's embedded in the program).
Once you're on the site, on the right-hand side of the page, it says "Listen Again" and then below it a link to the show.

Why are there no decent hard rock bands in the official radio 1 charts? or anybody else who can come up with something original, and that doesn't involve regurgitating old tunes or "feat" so and so. It's all dance, or hip hop or rnb. I would hardly call Kings of leon a band, because they seem to have slightly less of a backbone than a garden worm.
I know that there are individual charts for each category of musical taste, but why are people buying Enrique Iglesias Ft Ciara..!!! As for your comments on the Kings of Leon, sorry I disgree. The first few times I heard them, I thought they were one of the most exciting new bands I had heard since the late seventies.

the charts indicates the most popular songs that people buy. and most people like pop songs. the songs they like are played on the radio stations and TV programmes that they watch.
if you are into rock and metal etc then the charts shouldn't concern you. i think what you really are trying to say is that all the music that you dont like is coincidently all crap. its a bit naive but its normal for a kid to be like that."

Trust me I'm all for Rock & Roll, but I'm yet to see a fresh hard rock band, that DESERVES to be in the charts. Vains of Jenna, aren't horrible, but they're doing something that has already been done, Dirty Penny are a Motley Crue rip off and suck, bad, and Papa Roach, is a Nu-Metal band trying to be something they aren't. Give it some time my fellow rocker, and all will be well in our sweet lady Rock & Roll!"

a song from an album can be put in the charts because its been downloaded and not even been released as a single
,radio 1 plays safe chart friendly music during the day so what do you expect when its all the radio listeners listen to,
its all they are going to buy/download so that commercial crap is going to get in the charts and so the loop starts again.
long gone are the days when you needed to ship about a million sales to get a top 10 hit you can probably get to number one with only a few thousand copies sold/downloaded so real talent and longevity is nt need any more its just tunes you hear once whistle along to then forget about a week or so later ,
thats why the charts can have a song at number one one week and no where in the top 10 the following week"
Super Furry Animal replied: "I have to disagree with the comment regarding no decent hard rock bands. The Hellacopters? Turbonegro? The Answer? And even the more popular Queens of the Stone Age. Unfortunatley the first few ae not mainstream enough so dosen't exactly answer the question. No genre is "dead", they're just much more harder to find, as its up to teenagers to decide whats popular and whats not. And over the years, I guess music tastes have became much more suckier and simple minded, thus talented musicians like N-Dubz and Katy Perry hitting the charts so high. I guess as long as it's catchy, and only catchy, nothing else. Then its a huge hit."
smeghead replied: "hard rock or rock in general is a genre of music that has many fans but they are in the minority when compared to the genres you mention, plus the age of the target audience for radio 1 is 10-20 and rightly or wrongly that is in general the kind of music they listen to, anyway charts are for the opticians"
